Elephant Hills in Thailand Announces Birth of Baby Ha Ha

Elephant Hills in Thailand Announces Birth of Baby Ha Ha

16 February 2012 | Comments (0)

After waiting 22 months for the birth, Elephant Hills is proud to announce the birth of Ha Ha the baby elephant, born to Tor Por late last Sunday night on the 12th of February 2012. It is Tor Por’s first baby and both mother and baby are doing well in the confines of their herd. The matriarch Khun Di-Be-Le is especially pleased with the new arrival and was a witness to her smooth birth.  She measures in at 90cm high with a healthy weight of approximately 100kgs and will keep Tor Por busy for the next few years.

Asian elephants were classed as endangered in 1986 and according to the WWF, their numbers are still dwindling in Thailand where they are domesticated and in some cases mistreated. This birth is a huge success for Elephant Hills and they are hoping that Ha Ha will have a brother or sister in the next five years.

Elephant Hills is nestled deep in Thailand’s Khao Sok rainforest and gives its visitors a luxury camping experience amongst the wildlife. Visitors can either choose to stay at the luxury floating camp or the tented camp and are treated to campfires and canoe excursions among many other activities. With the addition of Ha Ha, Elephant Hills will further ensure that they create a lifetime of memories for visiting guests, and continue to work with the local community to improve conservation in the area.

We wish the excellent team at Elephant Hills good luck and look forward to hearing how Ha Ha is doing in the future. Watch baby Ha Ha playing and see her photos below.

Masters Of Thai Massage Attempt To Set New World Record

Masters Of Thai Massage Attempt To Set New World Record

25 August 2011 | Comments (0)

584 masseuses gathered on Kata Beach in Thailand on Friday 19th August 2011 to set an unofficial and unprecedented new world record of the most people simultaneously performing a Thai massage.

Thailand Massage Record

The standing world record was set in March 2011 in Australia, with 232 pairs of hands, but this has been doubled by the hundreds of hands working in unison in Thailand. The reason that exactly 584 people were invited to join the event is very special; ‘5’ represents the birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and ‘84’ represents the age of the king this year, the world’s longest-reigning monarch.

The event was held on the picturesque Kata Beach, the perfect location for a relaxing massage for those lucky hotel guests who received the free massages. The event carried on into the evening, with health exhibitions presented by a range of spas from the surrounding area, including Phuket and Krabi.

This occasion was the third of five such events to make up the ‘Nuad (massage) Thai for World Record’ campaign, organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. The country can now invite Guinness World Records to watch and accredit their official world record attempt in November 2011, to be held in Bangkok. This memorable occasion was a testament to the passion that the locals have for the art of massage.

BBQ Recipe From Thailand: Beef Waterfall Recipe

BBQ Recipe From Thailand: Beef Waterfall Recipe

1 July 2011 | Comments (0)

The Thai style of cooking is suited to all types of meat, but the rich flavours and strong spices are especially suited to the rich succulent taste of beef. This recipe is wonderfully flavoursome and perfect for a Thai style summer BBQ.

Country: Thailand

Recipe: Beef Waterfall

Ingredients:

A Nice Chunk of Marbly Beef 500gr
1 Fresh Lime
2 Tbs Sesame Oil
2 Tbs of Seasoning Sauce
2 ts Chicken Stock Powder

Instructions:

Slice the beef into steak sized slices for the barbecue

Give them a good pounding with whatever comes to hand (rolling pin, steak tenderiser etc)

Next mix in a bowl with 2 slices of lime juice

Using a mature barbecue, place meat on top to cook, turning regularly so as not to burn the outside.

If you have a nice piece of marbly beef the oil will dribble out and fire up on the coals hence the name “waterfall”

Remove when cooked through, it should still be very soft and a slight pink center is perfect

You can enjoy this recipe on your luxury Thailand holiday or at home with your friends and family.
