All Holidays in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is the proud capital of Malaysia and is known throughout the region by the initials KL.  It is a truly international city, but one where intricate mosques and temples still stand side by side against towering modern sky-scrapers. Kuala Lumpur is a colourful, cosmopolitan city and a melting pot of cultures.

If you are adventurous with cuisine, Kuala Lumpur has a great restaurant scene and bustling street markets, particularly in China Town. The city also offers some of the best priced shopping in the region and as English is widely spoken, the shopping experience is pleasant rather than challenging. There are a number of international style shopping malls that usually have at least a floor dedicated to cuisine from around the region – food and shopping is high on the daily agenda here!

Kuala Lumpur is well known for its iconic architectural designs with the futuristic and highly impressive Petronas Towers dominating the skyline. A trip to the top of the towers offers fantastic views of the city. Try it at night for the most dramatic impact.

In our opinion, Kuala Lumpur is one of the best introductions to the Far East and well worth a two or three night stopover en-route to one of the beach resorts.

Malaysia Guide
About Malaysia

From rainforests to mountains and everything in between, Malaysia and its essence lives up to what most of us perceive as ‘True Asia’. Considered to be one of the great cultural melting pots, the nation is host to many cultures outside of its own.

This can best be seen while wandering through the streets where you will pass gold-domed Malay mosques that tower over hindu style bustling markets. Far away from the city centres are untamed pieces of natures that offer rare and exotic species and hints of tropical wildlife.
Although lacking in ancient ruins and deep cultural ties such as neighbouring countries, Malaysia still brings a unique cultural heritage all its own that the people of the country can rejoice and celebrate about.

Becoming more of a strong economic force in the last decade, Malaysia often serves as an important trading port between India and China and this is reflected in various sectors within the country, especially in retail.

Malaysian food is heavily inspired by the Indian palate but also influenced by traditional spices and herbs from neighbouring Thailand. Many dishes are made with or blended in coconut milk and curry and other exotic flavours such as galangal, lime, and lemon grass.

Rice is a staple in traditional Malay meals, often accompanied by fried chicken or fish, vegetable dishes, and small condiments such as shrimp paste. As seafood is popular, fish, prawns, and squid are often bestsellers at most restaurant menus.

The most popular Malay dish is Satay, delicious barbecued skewers of marinated chicken, beef, or mutton that are to be dipped in chilli peanut sauce.
You will also find popular dishes from other Asian countries, particularly Chinese Food and Peranakan cuisine.

You will easily find a variety of beverages no matter where you go including traditional western soft drinks and bottled water, both still and sparkling.

Borneo is one of the most bio-diverse places on earth. Where else can you see Orang-Utans in the wild, watch Probiscus monkeys playing and take a cruise up the Kinabatangan River?

You can even spend a night or two in a Riverside Lodge, allowing you to explore further in to the jungle and really experience life in the rainforest by taking a Canopy Walk!

Mount Kinabalu offers a fantastic experience if you are interested in climbing too. The wildlife and cultural diversity on offer here is truly amazing.

The beach is not too far to stop by and relax after all that hard sightseeing! You can also have a few nights in Kuala Lumpur too, a city not to be missed for shopping and more stunning scenery and wildlife.
