HOLIDAY TYPES
Sabah/ Borneo
The large separate island of Borneo is located to the southeast of the Malay peninsular and is divided administratively into three parts, with areas of the island belonging to Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei.
Sabah and Sarawak are the two independent Malaysian states located in the northeast of the island that make up Malaysian Borneo, just over a two hour flight east of Kuala Lumpur. Eco adventure is the main attraction of Borneo and the combination of Sarawak and Sabah is outstanding. Home to dense tropical rainforests, mountainous terrain, outstanding beaches plus an equally attractive under water scene, both are also rich in culture with over 30 different ethnic tribal groupings.
The region of Sabah offers superb beaches and totally undeveloped offshore islands. It is a nature lover’s paradise with the opportunity to see wonderful marine life plus orang-utans in their natural habitat. Discover dense tropical forests with gentle and challenging trekking and climbs to the lower levels of Mount Kinabalu. Sabah offers fantastic appeal for those wanting to combine high quality accommodation with eco adventure opportunities, both on land and at sea.
Sarawak, the largest of the Malaysian states has a diversity and culture to rival anywhere in the world. There are stunning beaches combined with outstanding wildlife, traditional villages and stunning natural surroundings.
Being such a lush island, the rainfall in Borneo can be heavy year round, however this will usually be in short, sharp bursts. April to October are generally considered the most pleasant months as the rainfall can be particularly heavy from December to February.
