Originally a fishing village and then a summer residence for wealthy locals, St Julians is now a major resort with an abundance of restaurants, cafes and nightlife to suit all age groups. Surprisingly perhaps, the traditional brightly coloured Maltese boats can still be seen in the harbour most of the year round.
Nearby in Valetta, the Cathedral of St Johns and the Grand Master’s Palace boast stunning architecture, not to be missed. Popular too are excursions to the spectacular caves of the Blue Grotto, the medieval walled city of Mdina and the islands of Gozo and Comino.
