Arosa Description

Skiing Holidays in Arosa, Switzerland

Classic Swiss  winter resort. High altitude skiing above tree line. Off-piste, ski touring, skiing for most standards. Après ski and non-ski both good.

In favour of Arosa
Arosa comprises of two parts. Inner Arosa has more of a village atmosphere and easy access to the ski slopes. The main town Ausser Arosa is centred along the main street, where most of the nightlife and activities are to be found. There are ski lifts from both areas.

This is an enjoyable resort for most standards of skier, although the very advanced may not be over-stretched. Two well planned ski areas which link efficiently, from where you can virtually always ski back to town. Great for cross-country skiers. Arosa is ideal for family groups. Children are well catered for, babysitters and kindergarten are available. Plenty of winter pathways cleared for walkers. Indeed, nearly half the visitors are non-skiers. A 2½ hour transfer makes Arosa possible for weekends.

Disadvantages
The access road is tricky and long with 365 bends in 30km, but with dramatic scenery. Village parking can be problematic. Though high, the ski areas are not huge, nor are there many difficult on-piste opportunities, although you can ski off piste to and from Lenzerheide with a guide.

Non-skiing activities
Natural and artificial ice rinks, curling rinks, indoor swimming pool, several hotels have pools and bowling open to the public. Indoor tennis and squash courts, hot air ballooning, paragliding. Toboggan runs, 60 km. of cleared paths, Horse-drawn sleigh rides. Casino, cinema, nightclubs, and a variety of bars and restaurants.
