Khao Sok
Khao Sok National Park is situated in southern Thailand on the mainland, just a two hour drive from either Phuket or Krabi airport.
Khao Sok is the largest area of tropical rainforest in southern Thailand, with dramatic limestone peaks, breathtaking lakes and surrounded by dense jungle. It is still largely undiscovered, although there is an amazing variety of plants and animals, including the world’s largest flower ‘Rafflesia’.
You may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of wild elephant, bear, monkeys, gibbons and deer, as well as several hundred species of bird including the hornbill. Tom ClohertyLast winter, I booked myself in at the Soneva Kiri Resort on the island of Koh Kood in Thailand. The resort was surrounded by a large tropical rainforest which added to its exoticness and tranquility.
I opted for some ayurdevic therapy and a deep tissue massage. The rooms were comfortable and spacious, best of all, looked out to the clear blue ocean. Absolute bliss!
