Amanda SweeneySantiago isn’t what I expected, the city is very retro and cosmopolitan, full of al fresco cafes, well preserved colonial buildings, a vibrant nightlife but most of all very artistic.
Almost everywhere you go, you can see that each murals has a somewhat creative and sometimes comical edge. Mercado Centrale, Santiago´s biggest seafood market, is a good stop for some fresh yummy seafood.
Walk along the shops to Plaza des Armas, and watch many of the open public debates. As soon as the sunset hits, head down to La Piñotera Bar for some great local drinks and for a more authentic Chilean environment.
