Beach Holidays in Costa Rica
It is often said that Costa Rica is home to some of the most ideal and beautiful beaches in the world. Known as ‘playas’ in Spanish, the beaches of Costa Rica stretch over 1800km and are absolutely breathtaking.

Costa Rica offers a wide variety of cuisines and beverages. The main dishes almost always include rice, plantains, and black or red beans.
There are beverages for every occasion. The best known traditional morning drink is called Agua Dulce (sweet water). It is made from Tapa de dulce.
Coffee is usually served at breakfast and during traditional coffee breaks in the afternoon.
There are no visa requirements for UK citizens to enter Costa Rica.
The electric current in Costa Rica is 120 volts, alternating at 60 cycles per second.
Costa Rica is considered the safest country in Latin America, however Western & Oriental advise to still be aware of your surroundings and to look after your belongings carefully.
The high season for visitors is late November to mid-April which is considered the dry season. The ‘green season’ as termed by the locals, runs from May through mid-November.
It is during this time of the year that you will see sprawling green trees and fields at every turn.
If travelling to higher elevations, it is important to note that frost occurs year-round.
It is advised that travellers ensure their Tetanus and Polio shots are up to date. Vaccines for Typhoid and Hepatitis A are strongly recommended.
