Located on the Gulf of Oman with over 1,000 miles of glorious Indian Ocean coastline, Oman holidays combine the best luxury beach resorts with a rich cultural heritage dating back over 5,000 years. With desert and mountain oases, ancient forts and hill villages to discover, there’s a tremendous amount to explore in this inspiring country.

Oman holidays will surround you with Arabic beauty, from swaying palm trees and sparkling white sands to traditional reed houses and luxurious hotels. Whether you are on your honeymoon or on a family holiday there is plenty to see and do on your Oman holiday. From the World Heritage Sites to the fantastic shopping, Oman is a traditional country full of culture, diverse scenery and hospitable people.

Musandam Peninsula is located at the northern tip of the Arabian Peninsula, and well worth a visit for a few days to see its ‘fjord’ style coastline backed by dramatic mountains. Spend a few days at the luxurious but traditionally designed Six Senses Zighy Bay, reached by car and 4WD from Dubai airport - perfect as a Multi Centre holiday. A must do is a desert drive along the sand dunes under the guidance of highly experienced drivers – an unforgettable experience. We also recommend a night or two in the desert, staying at one of the attractive inland resort camps. Here, you’ll have the chance to go camel riding or try your hand at falconry.

When it comes to tourism, Oman holidays are still in there infancy compared with neighbouring Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Well planned and slow paced, Oman pursues quality rather than quantity with low rise buildings and traditional design evident throughout. Pleasures here are more refined with fascinating culture and sense of tradition, stunning beaches, awesome scenery and easygoing and respectful hospitality.

The weather in Oman is slightly cooler than Dubai, with temperatures in the period December to March around 22°C, and then beginning to rise to reach a mid-summer peak of 35°C. Rainfall is minimal, although the winter months can see short sharp showers and occasionally high winds coming in from the desert.

Oman Beaches and Retreats Oman Beaches and Retreats MusandamMuscat

Oman offers stunning beaches with dramatic rugged mountains in the background. It really is a totally different experience than its neighbours Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Dolphins are a familiar sight off the coast as are the turtles that nestle on their shores as the sun sets. Musandam in the north offers a fjord style coastine and the south offers virgin sandy beaches.

Muscat in Oman is a fascinating city in which to enjoy a few days before going on to Maldives or Zanzibar for a beach holiday, or to Dubai or Abu Dhabi for a further taste of Arabian culture and contrasting scenery and ambience, via Oman Air.  Within the Sultanate of Oman there are other regions to discover – Musandam peninsula in the north, or Salalah in the south. Both are easily combined with Muscat for the full Omani experience.

The Sultanate of Oman has a rich and unique history and heritage well worth exploring on short daytime excursions from Muscat or overnight or longer private tours allow you to discover the mountains, wadis and desert, including an exciting choice of mountain and desert camps, hotels or ecolodges.  Oman has many fascinating aspects for the visitor: forts, ancient art, Bedouin mountain villages and, to the south is Salalah, with the strong heritage of being the historical global centre of the Frankincense Trail.

Oman Honeymoon Oman Honeymoon MusandamMuscat

Imagine sitting by a golden sand beach caressed by the Arabian breezes off the Gulf of Oman with a cool cocktail brought to your double sun lounger, then a few days later being driven in your own 4WD vehicle by a chauffeur-tour guide through the rugged mountains for a picnic by an oasis in a wadi before driving across rolling dunes to stay under the stars in Wahiba Sands desert.  That must be a magical memory for any honeymooners choosing Oman for this special trip and plenty of opportunities to enjoy 'once in a lifetime' experiences such as watching green turtles hatching, dolphins swimming off the coast and 'wadi- or dune-bashing' .
