Ras al Khaimah is a relatively small neighbouring Emirate to Oman and only 45 minutes drive on good roads from Dubai International Airport, giving it the best of both worlds - rugged mountains and deserts of Oman and easy access to Dubai's 21st century attractions and shopping.
Sandy beaches lie along the Emirates' fringe and are a popular destation for leisure visitors, not least on account of two good 18-hole golf courses and the inland rolling dunes of the desert for adventure and escape.
