Mahé is the largest and main island of the Seychelles, with its diminutive capital, Victoria and its shops, market and bustling harbour.  Towering granitic mountains form the backbone of the island, cloaked in lush forests and tea plantations reaching to the sandy coves below, interspersed with the iconic, dramatic boulders.  Wherever you stay on the island it is easy to explore by hire car or on one of the selected excursions to discover secluded coves, the fruit, coconut and tea plantations and the Creole way of life.

Praslin is the second most ‘developed’ (in comparative terms) island and also has granitic hills sloping to the beach, stunning, hidden stretches of beach such as Anse Lazio (one of the worlds’ best beaches) and the famous Vallee de Mai Nature Reserve, site of the unique double coconut, Coco de Mer, well worth a visit.  Regular local ferry services link Praslin with Mahe and little La Digue for visits, and excursions can also be arranged to offshore uninhabited islets and some excellent snorkelling and diving sites.

The islands of Seychelles are so diverse it would seem a shame to visit without experiencing more than one!  If you can’t decide let one of our specialists help you and design your own itinerary.  Ideally it is best to combine Mahe and Praslin and (if time allows) one of the smaller, private islands for a contrast of pace and a feeling of desert island seclusion (but still being pampered in luxury!).  Popular combinations include Mahe with Praslin and La Digue,  Sainte Anne with Denis or Desroches,  Mahe, Cerf Island and Silhouette.  The list is endless so take your pick!

Within easy access by local Islander-aircraft flight, boat or private helicopter are a variety of small islands – some  of granite rock with hills and coves such as Silhouette, Sainte Anne and Cerf Islands, and others being coral islands (similar to Maldives), small and flat and encircled by excellent snorkelling lagoons, like Denis or Desroches.  Combine a few days on any of these with your main resort to experience the true Seychelles!
