Bali may be a small country but its reputation as a holiday destination is huge! It is a wonderful tropical island, where the culture is instant. Noel Coward put it simply, ‘it appears that each Balinese native from womb to tomb is creative.’ This is a statement that becomes even more profound as you travel around. There are fantastically designed hotels, diverse scenery and probably the most spontaneous and widest smiles in the region. It is an island that is much more than just a beach and each hotel is individual, with unique attractions.
Nusa Dua is a dedicated resort area, manicured in a way that still allows the mystical culture of the island to shine through. Here you will find the larger hotels and probably the best beach for watersports. Jimbaran is less developed with just a handful of hotels and generally non-motorised watersports. Seminyak is the most developing area, with the majority of upscale restaurants.
The place for restaurants and shopping is Ubud, which is the highlight for many and is surrounded by stunning greenery with some totally romantic hotels. The neighbouring island of Lombok is just a 20 minute flight away. It is generally quiet and less developed and a step back in time, with even more spectacular scenery and just a handful of hotels and restaurant options.
