On the surface the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago couldn’t be more different. Trinidad, a vibrant and industrial country is also the home of calypso and the steel drum. Not to mention probably the world’s best carnival held annually in February. Tobago is a sleepy island whose beaches and scenery have been attracting tourists from Western Europe looking for a luxury Caribbean holiday, for just a few short years and is an ideal destination for a beach holiday.

Trinidad is covered by dense rain forest, which is home to a wide variety of birds including the scarlet Ibis which returns home every evening to its home the Caroni Rain Forest. For anyone with even the slightest interest in ornithology or looking for a Caribbean wildlife holiday, a visit to Trindad on the way through to the beaches of Tobago is a must.

In Tobago, north of the capital Scarborough are the highlands which are covered in rainforest. Take a drive to Speyside and Charlotteville, villages where time seems to have stood still. If you do you’ll have to pass through the hills and valleys of the highlands witnessing some of the most spectacular scenery in the Caribbean.
