Khao Sok is the largest area of tropical rainforest in southern Thailand, with dramatic limestone peaks, large lakes and surrounded by dense jungle. It is still largely undiscovered, although there is an amazing variety of plants and animals, including the world’s largest flower ‘Rafflesia’. You may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of wild elephant, bear, monkeys, gibbons, deer, as well as several hundred species of bird including the hornbill.

There are just 30 tents, each consisting of twin beds, electricity and private shower and toilet. The tents provide ample space and are well protected against mosquitoes and other possible intruders! There is a semi open air main restaurant where you will take the majority of your meals whilst you are in resort and the Jungle Bar to relax after a hard day’s sightseeing.

Situated within the Surat Thani province, between Surat Thani on the east (120km) and Takuapa on the west coast (60km), the Khao Sok National Park covers an area of 739 square kilometres and is accessible by many of the popular beach resorts in the South of Thailand such as Khao Lak, Phuket, Koh Samui and Krabi.  The man-made Cheow Larn Lake itself lies within the park and is surrounded by limestone mountains and cliffs covered in tropical rainforest.  The lake and its surrounding area is one of the best places from which to spot some of the numerous birds, bats , reptiles, insects and some 48 recorded species of mammals.

The Luxury Floating Tents are ex-military specification and have been built on individual floating platforms that are connected via a walkway pontoon which lead to the main pavilion where meals are served and daily activities organised from.  The positioning of the tents each offer spectacular views of the lake and guests will enjoy the free use of the kayaks, as well as exploring the natural surroundings and spotting some of the wildlife such as monkeys, gibbons, colourful hornbills and if lucky, rare wild Asian Ox's, Asian elephants, clouded leopards, bears and Asian tigers.

Activities arranged at the camp include your welcome cruise of the lake itself - to appreciate the immense natural beauty of the Cheow Larn Lake, likened to Guilin in China and Halong Bay in Vietnam - as well as night safari, rainforest trek and swimming around the lake itself. Few people know of the lake and less have visited, which makes this part of Thailand particularly interesting for those seeking to experience some off-the-beaten-track parts to Thailand.
