About Natalie Fowler
When I started out in travel eight years ago I specialised in North American holidays but now with Western & Oriental I am a specialist for Europe. It's a wonderful opportunity to discover new destinations and meet people from various cultures.
I’ve always been interested in learning about countries I haven’t been before, and now I get to pass that knowledge on – whether it’s the best spa on the Med, or a gem of a hidden-away restaurant.
That fascination with new places means I’m looking into Thailand or Bali for my next holiday, as I’ve never been to the Far East – and I do love Thai and Chinese food!
My most memorable travel experience so far has to be a trip with friends to Hawaii, San Francisco and Las Vegas. The best part for me was driving to the summit of Haleakala, the volcano on the beautiful tropical island of Maui, although I couldn’t believe how cold it was up there!
San Francisco has to be one of my favourite destinations: the world-class shopping, restaurants showcasing the best of California cuisine and much more besides, and, of course, the eerily atmospheric prison island, Alcatraz. It’s smaller and more accessible than New York – European in many ways – and the people are so friendly.
