One of the best known deluxe hotels, the Oberoi Bali is well managed in a gentle Balinese manner that allows the style and flavour of the property to come through. The location is Seminyak Beach, 25 minutesfrom the airport.
The 74 rooms are all single storey, cottage style and tastefully decorated, with air conditioning, TV, DVD player and marble bathrooms set in private walled gardens. The Lanai Rooms are set furthest back, with either garden or sea facing aspect.
The Luxury Villas have a private garden courtyard with a dining pavilion and are closer to the beach. Spectacular private Pool Villas are also available - details on request. The entire resort is Wi-Fi enabled with free internet access available in most areas of the resort. The Oberoi has an easy charm that is probably more gradual than instant. The appeal is totally Balinese, something that many repeat guests find most attractive. The sea on this coast is more suited to the more confident swimmer or surfer.
The Oberoi Bali is situated on the Seminyak Beach in 15 acres of gardens and offers visitors a complete Balinese experience.
On your honeymoon, you may choose to stay in the ‘Luxury Villas with a Pool’ which are perfect for tranquillity and privacy. The villas have their own courtyard garden, a raised pavilion for dining and a private balcony. There is a floral theme which runs throughout the villa’s décor. There are also walk-in closets in all villas.
During your stay there are several restaurants to try at The Oberoi Bali; Frangipani is perfect for breakfast and a light lunch by the beach. Kura Kura features Indonesian, Asian and Continental dishes in an elegant setting. It has been awarded Indonesia’s Best Restaurant by the readers of ‘Indonesia Tattler’ in 2011. It has also been listed in the 2011/2012 edition of ‘The Miele Guide’. In the Amphitheatre, you can enjoy a buffet dinner and traditional dance shows several times a week. In the evening, visit the Kayu Bar which is a great spot for an intimate drink or snack.
Within The Oberoi Bali, there is a swimming pool, fitness centre and a tennis court. Nearby, there are diving, fishing, river rafting, snorkelling and many more water sports facilities that can be organised. Please note: the sea is more suited to the confident swimmer or surfer. Dining while in Bali will truly be one of the highlights of your entire trip as the experience is enjoyable both at high-end restaurants and at open top cafes. Hotels offer guest a wide variety of excellent dishes to satisfy every budget and taste. If you feel in the mood to venture out for a meal, there are many restaurants within Kuta, Legian, Candidasa, and Sanur.
The atmosphere of most restaurants tend to be relaxed, often with grass roofs, cane furniture, and contemporary music. In addition, mobile snack bars called warungs are popular for a quick bite to eat on the go in between meals.
The night markets are traditional outdoor eateries that come to life at dusk, and are famous all over Southeast Asia. Even if you cannot work up the courage to eat in the markets, you must visit one to experience the thrills, the smells, the sights, and the noises that define this part of the world.
Night markets and traditional outdoor eateries come to life at dusk with this custom being famous all over Southeast Asia. In the event that you decide not to eat in the markets, they are still worth a visit or walkthrough.
If in search of authentic Balinese food, venture outside of your hotel and the city centre restaurants as it is rarely served there.
It is best to check with the UKBA prior to travel to verify your visa requirement needs.
The electricity in Bali is 220 volts with 50 cycles per minute. You should check with your hotel to verify the type of converter or adapter you may need.
Monkey’s are very much a part of the Balinese wildlife and make up of the peoples culture too. Indeed within Balinese Hinduism, the Macaque, is the embodiment of both positive and negative forces. Ubud itself is home to a large population of monkeys as it is one of Bali’s conservational forested areas. They are present in the majority of hotels in this region but generally keep well clear of human beings. Westen & Oriental Travel do not recommend feeding the monkey’s or leaving food outside for them as this may encourage more aggressive behaviour to develop among a troop of monkeys!
Indonesia is considered to be fairly safe and has a low violent crime rate. As advised when travelling to any destination, make sure that you are always aware of your surroundings, especially when out on the town at night.
The flight time from the UK to Indonesia is 15 hours.
Bali is part of Indonesia and use the official currency called the Rupiah, also noted as Rp. Banknotes are available in a range of denominations, however coins are only available in two types. The positive part about Rupiah is that all notes are distinctive and easy to tell apart from each other.
