Siwash Lake Ranch is a luxury boutique lodge that sits in the Cariboo Mountains, between the Coastal and Rocky Mountain ranges, surrounded by 80,000 acres of riding territory. The Ranch is open in summer between May - Oct and has a 3 night minimum stay and no set arrival date. July and August are kid friendly, otherwise the ranch is generally adult orientated.

The riding programme is very flexible, with guides available for small group rides and ample opportunity for accomplished riders may ride on their own if they choose. Picnic lunches are provided for all day rides, sometimes with a cookout lunch.

Siwash Lake is the only Canadian ranch to make the Forbes Traveller recommended list of " Ten Luxury Dude Ranches" awarded in May 2007.

The rooms are all furnished with a Queen or King bed and with French doors leading onto a private balcony or a sitting area with a burning stove. The ranch offers exceptional dining experiences and a licence bar.

Canada Guide
About Canada

Canada is incredibly vast in size, stretching from the Atlantic to the Pacific. The variety in landscapes you will encourage range from high mountain peaks, endless forests, and open plain fields. Although a self-governing dominion, it still retains ties with the British crown. However, it is more economically and technologically paralleled with the United States.

The country is home to many different cultures because of its immigrant groups who bring with them all sorts of languages and beliefs and this is reflected in the Canadian concept as a whole.

Canadian cuisine is influenced by a variety of palates including Indian, Chinese, Greek, and German, just to name a few. The culture of ‘roadhouses’ is popular as well which serve American style burgers, chicken wings, and salads.

Canadian beers are very influenced by European tastes and it is one of the only countries that home brews a wide range of its malts. Similar to the southern US, the Canadians also drink prepared sweetened iced tea. Standard soft drinks and bottled water are readily available.

Canada offers a diverse range of activities and sights to see during your stay. A visit to Toronto is never complete without a visit to the world’s tallest building, the CN tower which hovers above the ground with views of Toronto and Lake Ontario.

The Rocky Mountains which stretch across a large part of the country are an iconic beacon. The Rocky Mountain Rail Tour will give you access to the winter paradise up-close and personal. If you want to enjoy snow sports closer to the ground, a visit to Banff National Park and Lake Louise Ski Resort will put you up against some of Alberta’s greatest slopes.

Before You Go

You will not require a visa to visit Canada under a temporary stay basis. You should however have a valid passport and be prepared to show a return ticket reciept upon request

The electric current is 120 volts, same as in the United States.

Canada is considered generally safe and is not known for extremely violent crime. As with all travel destinations, you should be mindful of your surroundings, especially when travelling at night.

It is advised that travellers ensure their Tetanus and Polio vaccines are up to date.

The flying time from the UK to Canada will depend on which region you are travelling to as it stretches across the Atlantic to the Pacific. Most trips will take between 6 and 11 hours.

The official language is English.

Time difference from the UK will vary based on which region you are travelling to.
