| Kids Fact |
This haven for luxury and well-being comes complete with typical Malay furnishings and traditions which flow throughout the entire resort.
Tanjong Jara is located on the east coast of the Malaysia peninsula, just a one hour flight from Kuala Lumpur or one hour and 20 minutes from Singapore, combined with a 75 minute drive from the Kuala Terengganu airport.
The 88 Bumbung and Serambi Rooms enjoy views of the tropical gardens or sea, as well as 55 square metres of living space, a spacious king size bed and en suite bathroom. The 10 Anjung Rooms are situated along the beachfront, with the addition of a sunken outdoor bath, whilst the Anjung Suite features its own lounge and sits in a perfect location above the river with magnificent views of the South China Sea.
Spa Village Tanjong Jara is a definite highlight of your stay, offering restorative Malay treatments and a range of experiences to suit all guests. The spa was voted #2 Best Spa in the World by Conde Nast Traveller in 2008. Another highlight of the resort is the unique cooking school, which specialises in a range of Sucimurni-style cuisine and offers guests an enjoyable and friendly cooking lesson environment aimed at introducing the creative culinary arts of Malay, Chinese and Indian dishes. Malaysian cuisine is an adventure of tastes and flavors, and the master chefs at Tanjong Jara bring the cooking experience alive for participating guests.
Surrounding the Resort, Terengganu's natural landscapes and lush vegetation lie waiting; a meandering river filled with wildlife; sleepy fishing villages shaded by coconut palms, and islands gleaming like jewels in the iridescent sun. You can take a cruise, trek through jungle, discover village paths on bicycle or explore the reefs off Tenggol island, one of Asia's best kept dive secrets.
Please note:- The hotel will be constructing a new three bedroom luxury estate and rebuilding 12 accommodations in Block 7. Works are due to be carried out from 1 October 2011 through to the end of May 2012. As a result of the unique resort layout and planned timetable, the resort has advised that there will be minimal guest disturbance during the works. Guests will be pre-assigned rooms as far away as possible from the affected areas. (updated 27Feb12)

Hotel Map
From rainforests to mountains and everything in between, Malaysia and its essence lives up to what most of us perceive as ‘True Asia’. Considered to be one of the great cultural melting pots, the nation is host to many cultures outside of its own.
This can best be seen while wandering through the streets where you will pass gold-domed Malay mosques that tower over hindu style bustling markets. Far away from the city centres are untamed pieces of natures that offer rare and exotic species and hints of tropical wildlife.
Although lacking in ancient ruins and deep cultural ties such as neighbouring countries, Malaysia still brings a unique cultural heritage all its own that the people of the country can rejoice and celebrate about.
Becoming more of a strong economic force in the last decade, Malaysia often serves as an important trading port between India and China and this is reflected in various sectors within the country, especially in retail.
Malaysian food is heavily inspired by the Indian palate but also influenced by traditional spices and herbs from neighbouring Thailand. Many dishes are made with or blended in coconut milk and curry and other exotic flavours such as galangal, lime, and lemon grass.
Rice is a staple in traditional Malay meals, often accompanied by fried chicken or fish, vegetable dishes, and small condiments such as shrimp paste. As seafood is popular, fish, prawns, and squid are often bestsellers at most restaurant menus.
The most popular Malay dish is Satay, delicious barbecued skewers of marinated chicken, beef, or mutton that are to be dipped in chilli peanut sauce.
You will also find popular dishes from other Asian countries, particularly Chinese Food and Peranakan cuisine.
You will easily find a variety of beverages no matter where you go including traditional western soft drinks and bottled water, both still and sparkling.
