Accommodation Description

Located in the unspoilt Meemu Atoll, Medhufushi Island Resort is a 40 minute seaplane journey from Male airport. Medhufushi Island Resort was awarded TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence Award in May 2011.

The 112 thatched villas are simply furnished in traditional Maldivian style, each with a large private outdoor verandah. Choose from a beachfront or overwater location. The two Lagoon Suites offer maximum privacy and stand alone over the lagoon with access by private “dhoni”. Family Villas, consisting of two interconnecting Beach Villas, are also available and will accommodate a family of four.

Medhufushi is set in a lagoon so the best diving is experienced away from the island and the Medhufushi dive centre, operated by Werner Lau, can arrange this. On a plus side this means that guests can walk straight into the lagoon without standing on any coral and also that the resort is able to offer a wide variety of water sports such as kayaking, kite surfing, waterskiing, wake boarding and even surfing. Other facilities include a choice of dining options both over water and on land, an overwater spa, freshwater pool and fully equipped gym.

One of the most popular hotels in the Maldives, Medhufushi offers attractive accommodation and extensive water sports facilities. Early booking is essential, especially for the Lagoon Suites.

Malaafaiy - the main buffet restaurant has a sand floor and spacious dining area under a lofty roof, several live cooking stations and serves all main meals in a relaxed environment.

Al Fresco - is the a la carte option located on the jetty over the water for full ocean views, offering snacks and light meals, salads and internationa favourites including burger, pasta, mezze, tapas style dishes.

A weekly Beach Barbecue is also popular when fresh local fish and international cuisine is served under the stars.

Vilu Bar - also located on the jetty adjacent to Al Fresco, has a menu for many snacks during the daytime to accompany cool cocktails and refreshing smoothies, beers and wines.

All villas can also enjoy room service and private beach dining can be arranged for a local supplement.

All Inclusive

The All Inclusive supplement includes:
 
  • Lunch served at the Main Restaurant,
  • Afternoon Tea/Coffee with snacks served at the a la carte restaurant
  • Dinner served at the Main Restaurant.
  • Bottled water &Drinks served by the glass (including soft drinks, beer, house wine and pouring spirits**). Beverages to be served between 1000hrs and 0000hrs only. After midnight all consumed drinks will be charged at the normal price.
  • 2 excursions (Island Hopping & Sunset Fishing) per person per stay.

Beach Villa (semi-detached)
Beach Villas (semi-detached) - are scattered around the island and face the beach and sleep two adults only, but there are a limited number which can sleep up to three people (on request). Interconnecting Beach Villas are available on request and are suitable for a family of four.

Beach Villa
Beach Villa - detached villas facing the beach (nestled in natural foliage which may restrict views) All have a large deck with Maldivian swing seat, semi-open air enclosed garden bathroom with outdoor shower. A limited number of Beach Villas can sleep up to three people.

Water Villas
Water Villas - are set on stilts over the lagoon and feature a glass fronted bedroom offering ocean views and decking area with steps directly into the lagoon.

Lagoon Suites
Lagoon Suites - stand alone in the ocean, accessible only by private Dhoni. These are especially private and perfect for honeymooners. They are nearly twice the size of the Water Villas and feature an open air rainshower and double bath tub with sea views.

Beach Villa Suites - comprise two separate, connected rooms and a shared open-sided seating/lounge area facing the large deck and looking towards the beach. All have courtyard garden shower and bathroom with bathtub and indoor shower.
