The convent was closed in 1903, many years later the building was painstakingly restored and converted in to a hotel, opening as El Convento Hotel in 1962. Many celebrities have since passed through the hotel and include Rita Hayworth, George Hamilton and Johnny Desmond. 

Over the years the hotel has undergone further refurbishments, ensuring all the original character has remained, infact some areas of the hotel are protected and have remained untouched for centuries, adding to it's special charm and historical significance.
