Young Island 

Only 200 yards from the shores of St Vincent lies pocket sized Young Island, crafted for lovers and romantics. More rustic charm than luxury, 29 attractive and comfortable cottages are hidden amongst manicured jungle and dotted across the island. 

Each of the cottages have a refrigerator, wall safe, ceiling fans (some with air-conditioning), king bed (twins on request), open air garden showers and private patio. Most cottages are naturally cooled by the Caribbean breeze flowing through the wooden louvered shutters.

Superior Cottages are nearest the beach and shoreline, set low on the hillside whilst the Deluxe Cottages feature large rooms with a sitting area within the bedroom, or have a large private patio. Hillside Luxury suites have a bedroom, sitting room, and large terrace with plunge pool, and incredible views of the ocean and Grenadine islands in the background. The Beachside Luxury suites have a bedroom, sitting room, and large terrace with a plunge pool and gazebo. Most cottages have a view of the ocean.

The Duvernette Suite, is a  two bedroom suite located on the hilltop, set in its own garden. In addition to the features in the other room categories this suite has a spacious sitting room, kitchen and split level terrace with a small swimming pool.

Apart from Coconut Bar marooned off the beach, the main bar and restaurant is located centrally close to the beach. Activities include wandering along one of the nature trails, try and spot one of the harmless resident iguanas or an Agouti, a rabbit like creature from South America, or just lounge on the beach. If you’re looking for a more active holiday there’s snorkelling, sunfish sailing and windsurfers, a scuba diving centre nearby and tennis is available day or night. Evening entertainment is limited to live music twice a week.

Vincentian chef Christopher John, along with his team, create fabulous mouth-watering dishes incorporating a range of local ingredients. The resort has recently won regional culinary awards alongside other top Grenadine resorts. The resort is also famous for serving six delicious homemade breads at every meal including banana, cinnamon and raisin.

Spa Kalina, the recently opened mini-spa sits amongst the tropical foliage on the hillside of Young Island, and offers a selection of pamperings including massages, Indian head massage and aromatherapy.

Young Island is ideal for romantics and lovers of all ages who are or want to be tuned in with nature, with many species of birds on the island and the sound of tree frogs chirping at night. This is the perfect barefoot escape.
