The Residence Zanzibar proudly occupies 32 hectares of land once owned by Shirazi Princes on the peaceful south west coast, 55 minutes from the airport and Stone Town, the capital. Set on an idyllic mile-long stretch of powder-soft beach, bordered by coconut palms, this recent addition to the esteemed Residence family of luxurious resorts is Tanzania's only member of The Leading Hotels of the World. Offering discreet service in elegant surroundings, this is a romantic retreat for couples seeking seclusion and serenity . Built in a style reflecting the island's heritage - from Indian to Swahili and British - The Residence Zanzibar features just 66 individual villas with one or two bedrooms and a choice of garden or ocean views. Spacious and light filled each boasts a private swimming pool, living room, shower garden, terrace with day bed. and a personal butler to make your stay even more enjoyable.
Two restaurants feature the very best of European and Middle Eastern cuisine. The Dining Room, with panoramic views of the beach and Indian Ocean, offers fresh seafood and International dishes whilst The Pavilion Restaurant, set in the gardens, features traditional middle eastern dishes, complete with shisha pipes. A beach lunch basket service, in villa dining and a weekly theme dinner all add to the gourmet experience and two bars provide delicious cooling cocktails. Away from the beach, set in it's own lush gardens, the six-pavilion Spa features a comprehensive menu with treatments by Carita. For the active there's a floodlit tennis court, fitness centre with pool, and choice of complimentary non-motorized water sports from the beach and jetty. Dolphin safaris, diving, dhow cruises, snorkelling and deep sea fishing excursions all can be arranged nearby.
The Chedi Muscat
One of the regions most acclaimed hotels, highly regarded for its simple yet elegant style, combining the influences of Arabia with Asia.
The Chedi Muscat is located on a “private“stretch of beach, just 15 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from Muscat – ideal for sightseeing and alternative restaurants.
Each of the 156 rooms and suites are designed in a bright, rather minimalist style, clean and uncluttered. The Serai Superior Rooms are located in the three storey main building with either mountain or sea facing view. These are a little on the compact side and are probably best used for a shorter stay. We would recommend upgrading to the larger Chedi Deluxe Rooms, which are scattered amongst the one and two storey blocks, pocketed by ornate ponds.
The Chedi Club Suites are furthest away from the lobby and are reached by a series of garden pathways. They are either in single storey or two storey blocks and Club Suite guests benefit from extra Club facilities.
Resort facilities at The Chedi Muscat include a main restaurant plus a beachfront alternative, both of which offer mouthwatering food, spa, beachfront gym and two swimming pools - one in the tropical gardens with intermittent shading and the other at the beachfront for adults only. The hotel is adult oriented. Children are accepted but limited during peak demand periods.

Desert Nights Camp
For a true Arabian Experience we would highly recommend a night in the desert. The Desert Nights Camp is camping in style and is situated on the Wahiba Sands, 250 kms south from Muscat.
Each of the Bedouin style tents is air conditioned, with en suite shower, mini fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and outdoor sitting area from where you can gaze out across the dunes.
Buffet meals are served in the dining area. The rates include daily breakfast and dinner. Camel riding, dune bashing and quad biking are fun, available ways to experience the surrounding desert during your stay.

These one bedroom villas are spacious with 99 sq m area in the villa plus a large deck and private swimming pool (30 sq m). Indoors is a living room extending onto the private deck with table and chairs, daybed, sun loungers, parasol and the pool. The bedroom has a canopied bed with French doors to the deck and garden views. there's a spacious bathroom leading to a private garden and additional outdoor shower.
