Located on the beach 15 minutes drive from the historic town of Galle and 3 ½ hours from Colombo airport, The Fortress is a deluxe hotel with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The property is styled after Galle’s Dutch Fort, combining historic Dutch and Portugese architecture with modern design.
The Fortress offers just 49 rooms, chic and contemporary in style and furnishings. Each room features an oversize bed, modern amenities and stunning bathrooms with huge freestanding bathtubs. The Fortress Rooms are the only room
type not to face the sea. Ocean Rooms and Beach Rooms have direct sea views and are located on the upper and ground floors respectively, with balcony or terrace. Larger Ocean Lofts are also available.
The Fortress boasts a fantastic choice of food and dining options including the unique glass cave wine cellar! Other facilities
include a spa, swimming pool, gym and kids club (although the majority of the guests are couples and adults). Watersports can be arranged nearby. Whale watching excursions are possible between November and April.
