Travel Specialist
About Carly Crowe
After spending several years in travel, I joined Western & Oriental in 2010. My career has focused on selling luxury holidays – so, for the best secret hideaways or places to see the rich and famous, give me a call and I can help plan your celebrity escape!
My own favourite travels have been those where I have taken part in overseas charity work. In 2006 I travelled to Borneo to work for the world famous orang-utan rehabilitation centre, helping to build a cabin in the middle of the rainforest so zoologists could monitor the progress of animals released back into the wild. It was an amazing experience. In 2009, I spent a week digging a ford for a local township in the Sahara Desert on the borders of Morocco and Algiers and this offered a fascinating insight into the local culture.
Since joining Western and Oriental I have specialised in selling the Indian Ocean and Middle East, the Caribbean and Far East. I have been fortunate enough to visit Mauritius which I have a soft spot for as my mother got married there. I was swept away by the beautiful powder white sandy beaches, the calm warm seas and great hospitality. If you are looking for activities you can ride quad bikes, go horse riding, visit local temples, walks in the indigenous forest, shop in Port Louis, dinner and a dance in Grand Baie and that’s not even mentioning the array of water based activities the island has to offer. The climate is great to visit all year round.
In 2010 I visited St Lucia, I spent half of my time in the south of the island and half my time in the north which both offered very different experiences. When in the south I visited coco plantations and The Sulfur Springs, watched the sunset with a cocktail at Jalousie Plantation and had an amazing lunch looking over the pitons at Stonefield Estate Villa Resort. In the North I visited some beautiful beaches lined with palm trees, danced the night away with tourists and locals at Gros Islet Jump up street party, Zip wired my way through a national park and enjoyed canapés and champagne at Calabash Cove. The south was relaxing and a haven for nature lovers. The north had the best beaches and would be perfect for anyone who wants to rub shoulders with the locals.
In May 2011 I visited paradise, the Maldives. I have never been anywhere like it. The pure white sands and blue seas. The pictures in the brochures have not been touched up at all, it really is that beautiful. In the Maldives I felt like I could truly unwind, I have never been somewhere so relaxing. The snorkeling blew me away, I saw turtles, reef shark, manta ray, tuna, clown fish just to name a few. Anyone interested in marline life would love it here.
In June 2011 I visited Dubai, one of my favorite destinations. I love the glitz and glamour of it, the beautiful hotels, great food, fantastic service and funky cocktail bars. The shopping malls are out of this world and you can pick up some real bargains. For families there are lots of activities, Kidzania is a must for children. The underwater zoo is good fun and the Snow dome will keep them entertained for hours.
Next on the list is Sri Lanka, another destination to combine wildlife, beaches and culture. Can't wait to get there.
