Honeymoons & Romance in Indian Ocean

Mauritius, Maldives, Seychelles…the very names invoke visions of luxury and exoticism. For those looking for a romantic island honeymoon, luxury spa or wellness break, or a relaxing family holiday in the Indian Ocean, you can have it all with Western & Oriental.

Maldives Holidays

Maldives holidays offer an aquatic paradise, total escapism with attractive and luxurious accommodation. If you are looking for a tranquil escape to get away from it all, or a superb water sports holiday with particularly good diving and snorkelling, our experienced Indian Ocean specialists recommend the Maldives.

At night, enjoy exotic cuisine in the mainly sand-floored restaurants, but don’t expect to party ‘til dawn, organised nightlife is virtually non-existent. Our chosen resorts are all very different, yet each reflects the individuality and charm of the Maldives islands.

Mauritius Holidays

Resort style at its best on a larger island. You’ll find luxury hotels and resorts in Mauritius, with sophisticated yet relaxed service. There are excellent beaches and sporting activities including several championship golf courses. A holiday in Mauritius gives you a fantastic melting pot of cultures and influences, and surprisingly good boutique shopping. Our Indian Ocean specialists have first-hand knowledge of our holidays.  Call them today to find out how we can tailor-make your Indian Ocean holiday.

Seychelles Holidays

A stunning group of islands with genuine exclusivity for those who seek it. Unbeatable scenery and tremendous variety as you hop from island to island. An Indian Ocean holiday to the Seychelles is all about romance and scenic splendour. One of  the real joys of a Seychelles holiday, is the choice of an island-hopping experience, combining two or more islands.

Call our Indian Ocean specialists today for more information and to plan your luxury holiday to the Indian Ocean.

I love Sri Lanka for its diversity.

How many places can you visit in a couple of weeks and take in the culture, wildlife and the beach all in one country? Welcome to Sri Lanka. I would highly recommend taking a private tour, visiting the amazing Dambulla caves and climbing the ancient fort of Sigariya when on a Sri Lanka holiday. A tip for you – it’s definitely worth hiring a local guide at Sigariya to climb with you, to learn all about this amazing rock!

However, the highlight of my trip was a visit to the Elephant orphanage where you will be able to see these stunning animals in their natural environment before watching them at feeding time – an experience not to be missed for any animal lover! After the tour, what better way to unwind on one of Sri Lanka's beautiful sandy beaches before thinking about heading back home.

You’re spoilt for choice of places to see and do in Sri Lanka, whether it be the beaches, the forest monasteries of Anuradhapura, climbing over ‘Budda’s own footprint’ to reach the pilgrimage site of Adma’s Peak or simply indulging in some ancient holistic therapy known as Ayurveda.

I loved the Maldives, it was like paradise.
I have never been anywhere like it. The pure white sands and blue seas. The pictures in the brochures have not been touched up at all, it really is that beautiful.

In the Maldives I felt like I could truly unwind, I have never been somewhere so relaxing. The snorkeling blew me away, I saw turtles, reef shark, manta ray, tuna, clown fish just to name a few.

While planning my escape for the holidays, I searched through volumes and volumes of brochures and stopped at the sight of the gorgeous islands of the Maldives.

Clear blue waters, white sandy beaches and sunshine were high on the list, to which the islands satisfied us without end.

I have a real soft spot for Mauritius, not only because my mum chose to marry there but also because I have also felt so comfortable on the island.

It is like a home away from home for me.

My first taste of an ‘exotic’ island was Mauritius. I was swept away by the beautiful power white sand beaches, the calm warn seas and the great hospitability. The food is great in Mauritius with lots of sea food and Indian influences. People do not realise how much there is to do in Mauritius. You do not have to stay in your resort if you don’t want to you.

You can ride quad bikes, go horse riding, visit local temples, walks in the indigenous forest, shopping in Port Louis, dinner and a dance in Grand Baie and that’s not even mentioning the array of water based activities the island has to offer. The climate is great to visit all year round with May-October being the coolest time to visit.

Mauritius is a dream destination for honeymooners, with its miles of sandy beaches, deep sea fishing or just for those who like to be pampered against a very beautiful setting.

Head up to the Balaclava ruins for the stunning Balaclava estate and the many tortoises that roam in the area.

Hike or bike through the Labourdonnais Gardens and take in the  delicious aromas of the fruit trees and exotic flowers.

A fantastic way to truly experience the Seychelles is by booking a twin centre.

Take in the stunning main island of Mahe, which has some great excursions, including a city tour of the capital, Victoria, and then spend a few nights on one of the beautiful outer islands, including Desroches where you will find stunning beaches and a real private island paradise.

They are both just a short flight away and it really offers a very luxurious experience! For the most photographed beaches in the world, visit the beautiful La Digue, a car-free island where your airport transfer will be an Ox and Cart!
