Itinerary

Day 1

London to Delhi

Depart London Heathrow for your overnight Emirates flight to Delhi via Dubai.
Day 2

Arrive New Delhi

Arrive in Delhi, greet and transfer to the Maidens hotel for overnight stay and assisted with check in.
Day 3

Delhi to Paro

The flight today takes you offer the Great Himalayas and valleys of Bhutan offering scintillating views. Stay the next two nights at the Tashi Namgay. [B, L, D]
Day 4

Paro

Full day guided tour of Paro include the major sites such as Tiger’s Nest and National Museum among many others. [B, L, D]
Day 5

Paro to Thimpu

Today morning visit the Drukgyel Dzong; and the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang. Drive to Thimpu (2 hours) stopping briefly at the confluence of Paro and Thimphu Rivers, and the 17th century Simtokha Dzong. In the tour of the capital city of Thimpu, you will be enjoy the guided tour of the major sites including Trashichhodzong, and Memorial Chorten. Stay overnight at Druk Hotel (B,L,D)
Day 6

Thimpu to Punakha

In the morning visit the National Library, the Textile museum, and Folk Heritage Museum. Drive to Punakha [3 hours] making a brief stop at the Dochu-la pass (3,088m/ 10,130 ft) for spectacular views. Overnight stay at Zangdo Pelri [B, L, D]
Day 7

Punakha to Gangtey

Punakha was capital of Bhutan until 1955. You will visit the major sites including the 17th century Punakha Dzong. You will then be drive to Gangtey (3 hours) in Phobjikha valley, one of the few glacial valleys in Bhutan. En route visit Wangduephodrang. In the afternoon you will be visiting Gangtey Monastery. Stay overnight at Dewachen [B, L, D]
Day 8

Gangtey to Trongsa

Today morning enjoy the bird watching in Phobjikha valley and then drive to Tongsa [4 ½ hours] across Pelela pass (3,300m). En route Nepalese style 18th century Chendbji Chorten. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight stay at Phuenzi Lodge [B, L, D)
Day 9

Trongsa to Bumthang

You will be visiting the Trongsa Dzong built in 1648 and the Ta Dzong. Drive to Bumthang (3 hours), the heartland of Buddhism in Bhutan. Bumthang is a combination of four valleys, the Chumey, the Choekhor, the Tang and the Ura with altitude varying from 2,600m to 4,000m. Stay for two nights at Wangdichholing [B, L, D]
Day 10

Bumthang

Full day tour of Bumthang include visit to the sacred site of Kurje Lhakhang; the 7th century Jambey Lhakhang temple among other major sites.[B, L, D]
Day 11

Bumthang to Mongar

Drive to Mongar (7 hours). The drive is eastward winding through more rugged terrain and crossing the Thrumshingla pass (4000m), highest motorable pass in the Kingdom. You will visit Mongar Dzong. Overnight stay Wangchuk [B, L, D]
Day 12

Mongar to Trashigang

You will be driven to Trashigang [3 hours], the centre of the biggest and most populated district in the country. In the afternoon visit the Trashigang Dzong overhanging the Gamri River. Stay the next two nights at Doejung [B, L, D]
Day 13

Trashigang

Full day excursion today includes visit to the temple of Gom Kora, a famous place where Guru Rinpoche subdued a demon; Doksum village where you can see women busy in weaving traditional Bhutanese fabric; a chain bridge dating back to the 15th century and then visit Trashiyangtse Dzong before returning to Trashigang. [B, L, D]
Day 14

Trashigang to Samdrup Jongkhar

On your way to Samdrup Jongkhar [6 hours], you will drive past Sherubtse College, the only college in country founded in 1978. Enroute visit the Blind School and Weaving Centre at Khaling. Overnight stay at TLT hotel [B, L, D]
Day 15

Samdrup Jongkhar to Guwahati

You will cross the border and enter India to stay one night at Guwahati (2 ½ hours), the capital city of Assam. In the evening visit Kalakshetra, a multi-art complex. [B]
Day 16

Guwahati to Calcutta

Fly to Calcutta. In the afternoon enjoy guided tour of Calcutta’s major sites. [B]
Day 17

Calcutta to London

Early morning transfer to Calcutta airport for your return flight to Heathrow with Emirates (B)
