Charter Flight (overfly Cape Horn) - Antarctic Peninsula aboard Ocean Nova - Deception Island - Port Lockroy - Punta Arenas
Countries:
Antarctica, Chile
Prices from: £5,995 pp
Jumping over Cape Horn and the mythical waters of the Drake Passage, Antarctica XXI offers a UNIQUE experience that will take you to one of the most remote places on earth, the coldest, highest, windiest, driest, and most inhospitable continent on Earth but with ONE BIG DIFFERENCE - you arrive from South America to your expedition ship on the Peninsula BY AIR. In less than 2 hours of flying from Punta Arenas, in southern Chile, to King George Island, the largest Island of the South Shetland Archipelago, you will be at the gates of the white continent.
The Drakes Passage is the stretch of water across which most expedition ships sail from Ushuaia to arrive at the Antarctic Peninsula. It is known for being one of the wildest and windiest ocean passages in the world. If the thought of rough seas for two days in each direction prevents you from considering travelling to Antarctica, then think again. This expedition takes you straight from Chile by air to the white continent to start onshore explorations of wildlife from the very first day you arrive onboard your ship, the Ocean Nova. This is also the perfect choice for those who dream of travelling to Antarctica but just cannot spare much time, although you still have as many days exploring the Antarctic continent as on the classic 11 day Peninsula trips from Ushuaia. This one week programme can be easily combined with explorations elsewhere in Chile or Argentina before returning home to the UK.
Fly first by charter plane to King George Island to join your expedition ship and navigate for six days along the Antarctic Peninsula, visiting the most wonderful places and enjoying the best wildlife sites of Antarctica. During the whole journey, you will also be invited to attend different lectures to introduce and inform you about this wonderful Continent. We are sure this will be a trip of a lifetime for those who want to see this pristine wilderness. The perfect choice for those who aren't so keen on ocean travel or who have less time to spare.
