Unique and boutique, just five kilometres from Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Vil Uyana is set in 24 acres of wetlands and paddy fields.

The 25 individual, thatched-roof chalets are rustic in style, all with a spacious interior and large bathroom. The main difference between the chalets is location – choose from a setting amongst the paddy fields or the marshlands or over the water and mangroves. The Paddy Field dwellings and two of the Marsh Dwellings also have a private plunge pool. Each of the Forest Dwellings has a larger private pool.

Facilities at Vil Uyana are limited and include a main pool, spa and Ayurvedic centre, gym and overwater library. Vil Uyana offers a choice of restaurants and some unusual private signature dining experiences, as well as an extensive wine cellar.

Perfect for those looking for somewhere peaceful and personal but not necessarily luxurious.

Located just 25 minutes outside Kandy, this architectural gem is a 200 year old manor house.

The emphasis at The Kandy House is on personal service, where the chef will discuss the evening menu with guests.

Just 8 rooms enhance the intimate and personal ambiance. Each room is slightly unique, quirky and individually decorated. All feature four poster beds and gorgeous bathrooms.

As you would expect with such a boutique property, there are limited facilities but there’s a lovely infinity pool overlooking paddy fields with sun loungers and hammocks, a masseur on call, meditation and yoga classes, and the food is fantastic.

Children under 12 are not accepted at The Kandy House, maintaining the peaceful, relaxed atmosphere and making the property ideal for couples wanting a luxurious base from which to explore the surrounding sites of Kandy.

In an ideal location, just 30 minutes from Colombo airport, on a lovely stretch of beach, Jetwing Beach is the perfect hotel for an overnight stop on arrival before beginning a tour, or a few nights relaxation post tour before heading to the airport.

The hotel is just three kilometres from the fishing village of Negombo and from the beach you can watch the fishermen head out in the early morning for the daily catch.

The 75 Deluxe Rooms are extremely spacious, sea facing and contemporary in style, with a balcony or terrace. Suites are also available and are perfect for honeymooners as they offer more privacy and an outdoor Jacuzzi bathtub.

Facilities include a choice of restaurants, lovely spa, large main swimming pool plus children’s pool and fantastic childcare centre which caters for children from as young as four months up to age 12 (small charge payable). Set amongst the tea plantations in the hills of the Bogawantalawa Valley - the “Golden Valley of Tea”, two and a half hours from Kandy and six hours from Bentota, Ceylon Tea Trails is an ideal base for  two or more  nights' stay as a postscript to a private tour of Sri Lanka's amazing highlights. 

As Tea Trails is at an elevation of 4000 feet, the climate is cooler and less humid than in Colombo and on the coast. Typically cool mornings, warm days and cool evenings.

The four bungalows comprising Ceylon Tea Trails are between 4 km and 15 km apart. offering between four and six ensuite bedrooms each, offering luxurious comfort in the style of late Edwardian to 1930s decor, reflecting the era  when  they were built for British tea estate managers in the days of the Raj  Guests can choose to stay in one or even stay in each, experiencing the difference in decor, ambienceand setting between them.

Summerville and Castlereagh are situated opposite each other on the shores of the Castlereagh lake, Norwood is at the other end of the valley about 15 minutes away by car and Tientsin is about 30 minutes away in the next valley.

Each bungalow is colonial in style, with beautiful gardens and sweeping lawns. Each property comes with its own manager, chef and butler and house boys. Each of the bungalows has a cosy lounge with open fireplace for the chillier evenings,where pre-dinner drinks can be served,and a television with selection of DVDs.

All are set in beautiful gardens with stunning views. Norwood has 5 bedrooms and a small pool. Castlereagh has 5 bedrooms and a small pool. Summerville has 4 bedrooms and lovely lake views. Tientsin has 6 bedrooms, a swimming pool, tennis court and is a bit more grand. Facilities in each bungalow are available to all Ceylon Tea Trails guests. The bedrooms are individually decorated, spacious and elegantly furnished. All the properties are sold on all inclusive basis – think afternoon tea on the lawn, pre-dinner drinks and post-dinner liquers – the food is plentiful and skilfully prepared and presented. Garden dining is optional in all the bungalows, an especially pleasant experience to enjoy breakfast with valley views!

Guests can choose from activities which include cycling and walking trails, white water rafting, a tea tasting experience or a dawn climb to the summit of Adams Peak (Dec-May). Alternatively just enjoy the peace, relax in the gardens with a book or play Scrabble! June and July can be wet months so may hamper outdoor activities.
