You’re spoilt for choice of places to see and do in Sri Lanka, whether it be the beaches, the forest monasteries of Anuradhapura, climbing over ‘Budda’s own footprint’ to reach the pilgrimage site of Adma’s Peak or simply indulging in some ancient holistic therapy known as Ayurveda.

  • Sally Rushbrooke

I love Sri Lanka for its diversity.

How many places can you visit in a couple of weeks and take in the culture, wildlife and the beach all in one country? Welcome to Sri Lanka. I would highly recommend taking a private tour, visiting the amazing Dambulla caves and climbing the ancient fort of Sigariya when on a Sri Lanka holiday. A tip for you – it’s definitely worth hiring a local guide at Sigariya to climb with you, to learn all about this amazing rock!

However, the highlight of my trip was a visit to the Elephant orphanage where you will be able to see these stunning animals in their natural environment before watching them at feeding time – an experience not to be missed for any animal lover! After the tour, what better way to unwind on one of Sri Lanka's beautiful sandy beaches before thinking about heading back home.
